rat and rod class at shootout
was talking to the presadednt and vice pres the other day and brought up the topic of a rat & rod class at the shootout
they said it was a good idea if the rat and rod crowd would support it
so give Murray a email to pass on your thoughts
oval57@bigpond.net.au
"reds17"@aapt.net.au
good luck it's up to us now to let it go or make it work
some ideas of mine
worst paint
worst interior
most accessories
lowest
peoples choice and judging to be done by a rat rod owner and a flat four member

it'd be good to have a seperate ratrod classes for beetle and buses. there are enough of each now that it's quite feasible. Let's face it,
Indian's Limo is gonna win every time if you don't and that just make's it boring for all the guys like sam who haven't done major custom jobs on
their cars.
p.s. the other thing to do is have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in class.

that you would not need to lobby for a catergory that suits you
I want a catagory for blue and white 66 beetles on mangels with a small dent on one guard with 50% tread left on pirellis and 90 k on the clock then I
too can have a trophy!
Keeping it real !

Atleast 1st 2nd and 3rd tropies should be on offer, unlike the Nationals.
I'm sure the judging will open up another can of worms.
I'll be there and so will my ride.

As much as I would love a limo split, I dont see why one thats been half done, should 'win every time' just because the welds havent been ground
back and painted. I still dont get the idea of having a trophy for best shitbox, let alone a 1st 2nd and 3rd. Personally if there arent at least 3
cars in a class I dont think ANY trophies should be awarded. Then again, how proud would you be to win 3rd best shitbox out of 6 shitboxes.... or
would that just mean you had a mediocre shitbox???
But then I've never been the sheep that tries to keep up with trends, none of my gym clothes have huge logos and I still wear my cap facing forward.

the whole idea of a show of any kind is to 1 raise money for the club involved there is very little income for clubs
well tuff i hear you sayi don't belong to one thats, ok it's your right but for some people it's there only means of seeing other peoples ideas and
to talk with others who have a similar hobby also it helps suppliers display new or old stock for the odd build that is being built
if the cars were being built to show standards for the great monet on offer there would be no show cars built they are there along with the not so
beautiful
these people do the show scene yes for a trophy but mainly to support the club and the movement in general I myself have entered 9 years of shows with
no chanch of winning but i supportthe club in a way that helps by giving the displaying club another vehicle to display and so the public can see more
of the vw family just emagin a show with only the 10 best cars where ever you went yes you do see maney of these cars over and over again although a
few of these cars are rested and brought back to show quality
i have spent maney happy hour just looking at your every day joe's car that has been entered so that blokes like me can chat about the odd changes we
have done
at maney showes the car park is a more interesting wander than the show and that is a TRUE SHAME isn it the measley $30.. entry fee that makes them no
enter and usually it's these very people who are heard to say that there is never any changes to the line up of cars
just remember no shows means no public no public means no one getting stimulated to build and eventually no suppliers it's a case of need builds
bemand whitch means someonemakes the parts
so next time pay the entry fee and enjoy the thought that you just helped the vw scean survive another year
we are the only ONE MAKE SHOW IN THE WORLD THAT can surrive on there own with no other brands needed YET

Judging should be done by a Aus member of hoodride, Flat four and VWMA editor.
Thats my 2 cents.
Rat and Rod are two words very open to Interpretation.
