Temperature Gauges
I'm looking at getting an air temp guage for my engine bay and am interested in what paths fellow VWers went down. Any pics or links?

I've never heard of anyone using an air temp gauge.
Most people use an oil temp gauge or cylinder head temp gauge, or both.
Are you trying to measure engine bay air temperature?

If so, go to your local PC shop, 12v temp sensors with digital readouts etc cheap as. Mine has three 12v fan RPM sensors and three temp sensors at
around $45. Tones an alarm when a user set threshold for either is breached.

Just curious, how are you going to measure air temperature with that unit?
That sensor needs to be mounted under a bolt and then it will measure the temperature of whatever it attached to, not the surrounding air.
Not trying to be a prick, just pointing out something you may not have considered.

Noted but if I attach it to a bolt on the fan shroud and monitor the temp for a few days I will get to know the normal operating temp. Then I will
know when I am outside of the normal temp if I ever do start to overheat.

Changed my mind after the discussions in this thread. I have a Pivot tacho ( http://www.pivotjp.com/product/sg/sgt-f1-e.html ) so I may as well get their matching oil temp one! http://www.pivotjp.com/product/sg/sg-top-e.html
