Pertronx ignitor II.....anyone
I've found a supplier in the US of A who can supply one of these for around $140AUS delivered in a week.
Has anyone had anything to do with the Igniter II. I particularly like the bit about the automatically shut off if you leave your ignition on. The
Igniter I would fry if you did this. I think this alone is worth the extra $30. I'm guilty of frying a coil or 2. They make a unit specifically for
009 and 050 dissy's
The Ignitor II uses a powerful micro controller with adaptive dwell algorithms resulting in the following features and benefits:·
The Ignitor II senses current levels in the coil and adjusts the dwell to maintain peak energy throughout the entire RPM range.
Dwell time is increased or decreased with changing engine RPM and operating conditions. This provides more energy at high RPM reducing misfires while
improving engine performance.
Compared to point type systems, develops on average 4 times more available energy between 3000 and 5000 RPM and 2 times more available plug voltage.
Compared to the original Ignitor develops an average 3 times more available energy between 3000 and 5000 RPM and nearly doubles available plug
voltage.
Higher RPM performance is improved when used with new Flame-Thrower II super low resistance (0.6 ohms) 45,000 volt coil, however, is compatible with
any induction coil.
Because peak current level is reached just prior to spark, ignition energy is sustained with less heat build-up increasing coil and module life.
Adjusts spark timing over the entire RPM range to compensate for the inherent electronic delay resulting in more stable timing.
Senses engine startup and increases dwell time providing more energy for starting sparks.
Senses incorrectly wired Ignitor II or a “key left on” condition and shuts down the system protecting the coil and other components from damage.
Shares all the same form features as the Ignitor i.e. electronics molded in epoxy for better foul weather performance, no moving or rubbing parts to
wear out, fits entirely inside the distributor, no “black box” to clutter your engine compartment, no complicated wiring makes installation easy,
compatible with 12-volt negative ground systems and comes with a 30 month warranty.

I am looking at the Ignitor I as I dont think the ignitor II fits in a vaccumn advance distributor. Any chance you could contact your supplier & ask
if they will fit a vaccy unit.
Will be interested to see what you think of it when its installed.
Cheers

Ive been using the Ignitor11 and the Pertronix Flamethrower coil in my Vee for a while now.
im extremely happy with the performance of the setup.
I use a funky plug with a fixed gap of about 2mm and the car starts and runs easily and reliably, hot, cold or indifferent.
However, I use an Accel (mallory) twin point dizzy with the Pertronix guts added so i cant help you with the Vac dizzy setup tho.

I dont think these have all the features of the ignitor II as far as I can tell, the ignitor II looks very attrative to me if all the stuff they claim
is true.
Cheers

i've done some research on the hot-spark and from what I have read from people who have tried them is that they have issues.
I hopefully should have the sigma eclectronic system fired up this week end. If I have no joy I will then opt for a pertronix II.
An Australian distributor got back to me (finally) and they are twice the price of sourcing them direct from the US including airfreight door to door.
