stretchy clutch cable or what?
Having some issues with my clutch. After adjusting the cable up and I got progrssively less clutch the more I used it till it wouldnt go into gear. I
then adjusted it up some more and it did it again. It's done it 4 times over the past 3 days and I have only driven it short trips.
Is it the clutch cable stretching? (I had to weld the clutch tube back on in the tunnel a while back and the cable was in it at the time, hence heat
effected maybe)
Or is it something else? Like the diaphram springs for instance in the pressure plate?

Hi Pete
It could be down to its last few strands, that will do it or the guide tube could be moving back into the chassis, you would notice the flexible bit
getting straighter each time.

Check the hook on the clutch pedal, yes the one inside the tunnel. Over the years I've had several bend , then break off. But your's sound like a
cable problem

Had one do exactly what you describe some years ago on a beetle --did exactly what you're doing-----cable went----middle of Military Rd
Mosman/Neutral Bay -- yup you've guessed it 7.45 AM--good lesson on how to be popular on the North Shore in peak hour ----not.
Cheers,--all the best,

well, the shiny new cable is in and the problem persists.
the pedal feels ok, but the clutch is still not fully disengaging. could this a problem with the thrust bearing or the pressure plate?
the last time I had an issue like this, the whole clutch was full of sand. :o

Throwout bearing 'fingers' may be about to let go... They don't like heavy pressure plates for too long

yeah thanx mick, you're all heart...or should I say bowel :vader
the tube is not moving at either end, so it's not that. there's a new clutch cable in, so it's not that, either.
I'll be getting boof to make me a shortened sump soon, so it's probably not a bad idea to pull the motor at the same time as I change that over. So
gee, that'll only be like the 14 millionth time I've drained and rebled the cooling system in the last few months. :o
maybe I should sell it and buy a new Hyundai?!
