1968 VW beetle 1.6i with 4AGTE.
Hello everybody,
I am new to this forum, but not new to VWs having
owned them since 1992.
Here are the basic specs of my 1968 beetle,
Its powered by a 1.6L Toyota 4age engine
(from a Toyota MR2) with a Garrett
T28 turbo, And has a 3.88 r/p gearbox and four wheel disc brakes. Has a factory steel sunroof also.
It goes pretty well to.
Also have a 1956 oval window beetle awaiting restoration.
I will post some jpegs soon.

I'd love to see some pics.
My drag car had a 4AGZE for a while when I was trying to drive my tube car.
That engine ran 14's at 92mph in standard trim on radials.(car around 900kgs)

would be a normal 100kw or even 88kw 4AGE, with a turbo bolted on, maybe a GZE block, but wouldn't be a 20V, they didn't come in MR2s.
I'd be curious to see pics aswell.....my first at home engine conversion was a 20v into an AE92 carby corolla back in 97.....fun!

Hello again,
There are some jpegs and more details of this car
on the WWW.NZVEEDUBNUTS.COM forum under the 'TURBOBEETLE' thread,
if you are interested in a turbo beetle with something other than a Subaru engine.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
See you Paul.

Watermelon in a sandwich bag!
Nice work, bet it's fun.
This is a fairly common rear engined motor used in off-road racing if I remember correctly.

Yes both here in New Zealand and in Oz the toyota 4AGE has been used in the 1.6litre class offroad racing(with VW gearbox). also in various kit cars
(lotus 7) etc. The Toyota boys get excellent power out of
modified 4AGEs.
the 4AGE is a Great little engine, Good twin cam head design
and plenty of tuning options! It loves the turbo!!
Car was in Volksworld last year,
and in a recent VW Magazine australia
issue along with my mates white 1302 with a 2.5 subaru which
is now also being turbocharged.
