13500 kms beetle good but not sold
Currently looking at a stock original 1975 beetle.
It is advertised with 13500 kms (or is it miles?) with log books and service records.
Is this unusual? Unrealistic?
What could I look for to ascertain whether or not it is true and correct?
Would apreciate your comments and help as I am having a look soon.

Speedo should be in KM's.............and with that little k's it should be like a new car. My 75 has 117000KM and was a garaged one owner
car.......it drives and looks like new !
You will be able to tell if its real or not, the interior should be perfect, and if you pull off the rocker covers the internals of the motor will
look perfect and clean.

they'd probably want a fortune for it as well,ifits true than if your gonna buy it and put it on blocks its probably worth it but if your gonna drive
it daily you could probably get something cheaper

Hi
I bought a 1974 1303 a few years ago, the owners son was convinced that it had only done 30,000 ks. It was a good car but 130,000 was much more like
it.
Make sure its a 75, it should have rack & pinion steering and front blinkers in the bumpers. Last of best Beetles made!

If the speedo only goes to 100,000 before re-starting then the will only be 35,000 plus however many times it's been around........... or that's the
way I read things. The older MPH speedos went over at 100,000 miles but what about the km ones? Can anyone clear this up for our friend. I would
have thought the km ones would all go to 999,999 before going over the top.
As a point of interest, I think there is one of those "Anniversary " model Bugs still in a shed up here around Richmond. I saw it around 12 years
back and as far as I know it's never moved since then. The old biddy still drives an earlier Bug around the area so If she falls off the perch and
it surfaces I'll let you all know!

Alright boys here is the run down.
It is a legit 13250kms
The car is in good nick one scratch but the motor is a bit dusty etc.
History all checks out though.
How much is it worth if I were to buy it and sell it?
Ideas? Opinions?

old cars sitting around in the paddocks ,then again some tend to think there coated in 24 carot gold

the 70's speedos DO go up to 999,999kms
actually, the one i got goes up there... but in miles...
the 60's guage i got spare goes up to 99,999miles.

mate where else can you find a 75 model with 13.5km on it.. really 8k sounds fair to me..
getting ripped off with a gem like that - have a think about it hey..
really no brainer..
just buy it wash it and drive it thats what its waitn for..

yep provided its genuine and hasnt rotted or rusted whilst sitting there 8k sounds fine, depends though, if you want to turn it into a daily driver
then it isnt worth as much as it wont be too long before the exclusivity is gone, but if it is going to be a weekender and kept all original then 8k
is a good price and it will hold its value easily

Well everyone I went and had a look today and I can confirm that the kms are legit .
I chose not to buy it inspite of the real kms and new feel of the car.
The reason I decided against it is the amount of surface rust that requires attention. It has been garaged since 1982 and regularly turned over but it
must have got damp as there is surface rust in quite a few places.
The rear lights for example are full of condensation for example. Most of the rust is on the chrome and the some of the motor. Also the rims at the
bottom where water has dripped have a little surface rust.
It was sort of cool though that they had the original service records and purchase and sales inspection paperwork.
Having said all this it really made me realise that I am more looking for a restored car with a little work to do and not a major job.
Although this car doesnt really require MAJOR work it would be well beyond my skills to do. I think it would make a great car who wanted a special
type of car.
I also took the point that was made here that this year of car is not very desirable as a collectors item either. Still spins me out to think the car
has only done 18kms since 1982 and still been regularly started and kept going.
I suppose have a completely rebuilt bug (which I stupidly sold) has made me a littled spoilt!
For those of you following is the carsales ad. Would love to hear fo anyone here bought it.

Its not a 75 bug, its a 76. The 76 had the flat screen with the blinkers in the bumper, 1600cc, IRS, front discs etc.

The seat "could" have sagged as they changed to that "other" pacing in 76 and that sagged by looking at it.
You should be able to tell easily enough if it is the original paint. Does it match under the front bonnent. I should have the Dulux paint sticker

Are the bumpers propper. Look underneath in the middle and see if the VW symbol is there.
Can you see the ridge in the rain gutter. A car in that condition should not have had rust repairs
Pan - should be in perfect condition.
Hand brake handle should be shiny - not worn away
That all said - a 76 is a fairly sort after. Probabally the most sort after of the late beetle
That all said i reckon it is worth $5k

But i am also saying (in my opinion) i would pay $5k for a 76 with propper german bars original paint on a body that has had no rust with what looks a
good paint.
