sealant on oil pump gasket
i put gasket cement on the gasket between the oil pump and the engine cases and then read in a manual not to use it. will this be a problem? the
manual also said to use new nuts on the cover. is this also correct?

i use the permatex gasket sealant on mine when i assemble them, so there will be no harm.
as for the nuts, if you reuse the old ones, once they are torqued correctly they wont pose a problem, but for the sake of a couple of dollars and
peace of mind, use new nyloc nuts.
other people/manuals will have different views, just comes down to your own choice

gasket sealer is okay as long as it is oil 'soluble' like the brown Permatex stuff... but not silicon
How much heat do Nyloc nuts cope with?

i dont know how much heat a nyloc nut will take. can you buy special nuts for this purpose? i may have to take the pulley off and change them.

nyloc nuts are fine for use on the engine, but not on the exhaust. you can use the ones from the local nut and bolt place
yeah use the brown permatex.
