its hard too say ,i think most were sealed beams ,unless its been changed over to later ones that has seperate globes ,most standard globes are 60/55 watt hope this is what you were after

No Beetles were ever sold with sealed beams in Australia.
they were semi sealed beams.
The replacement globes H4 Quartz Halogen are 12 volt 60/55 watt
P45t base - large round base..

not the very common P43t base with 3 outer tabs...

You can also buy Hella / Narva Plus 50 H4 Bulbs that are 50% brighter on Low beam and 30% brighter on high beam
but only use the same amount of current as the standard
QH H4 bulbs....

these are recommended....

Hi

I fitted some Mini headlight buckets to my and then used Hella H4 semi sealed beams with Narva plus 50 bulbs, the Hella lights take the common P43t style bulbs. These bulbs are far better that QH bulbs and give a very white light. I've heard that you cam by an adaptor to go from the P45t to the P43t bulb, but your still stuck with old tarnished reflectors and chipped lenses.

But my recommendation for very good headlight is the Mini headlight buckets with Hella H4 semi sealed beams with Narva plus 50 bulbs. Its not very hard to fit the Mini buckets or any other 7 inch sealed beam base to the VW headlight hole.

1303steeve, what's the year of our beetle? see what i want to know is where can i get a clear lens without cuts for my 1969 beetle. i don't want it to get in the way of the projector's beam. i was also thinking about directly trandplanting an assenbly but i recon it would be too heavy.

Hi

My cars a 73 but I'm using early Beetle style headlights in Aero mudguards, there actually a combination of Porsche 911 & 356 headlights. The only place I could get quality clear lenses was from Porsche 356, I think they were about $120 each.

If your car uses the late style bug headlights you could get some clear Lexen cut as a cover.

Angel Eyes???

What are angel eyes???

lights???

You can buy 7 inch clear semi sealed beams
with angled reflectors...
plus a light around the outer rim like BMWs..

well I've seen them for sale on USA websites...

Hi

Usually from a sign writing or Perspex place. Its looks like Perspex but doesn't crack as easily or yellow like Perspex.
