Hi micah,

the fuel pump got to make 2.5 bar of pressure. It would be best to use a 2.5 bar pump. If you use a stronger pump your fuel lines have to be upgraded to the higher pressure!

most EFI and turbo conversions I have seen use an external high pressure Bosch fuel pump, all EFI engines I'm aware of use similar pressures, and for a VW you'll probably need to run at least a 5/16" supply line, and a similar sized return line to the tank.

I think you'll have no problems with too much pressure, unless the return line is too small and restricted that the regulator cant do its job properly.
