Hi stoppa,

Where do you get those rims, im after a set too. Everyone appears to be putting them on lately but know one will say where to get them.
I ended up getting a set of 17" chev pattern off ebay that i will look into getting cut down to 16" but prefer to just get the 16" straight up.
im after the firestone crossply white walls 750/16 on the rear and 500/525 /16 on the front.

Buying some old rims and rebuilding them sounds like an expensive exercise Vman. Have you thought about some Tru Spokes and white walls from the US. Still a bit pricey but a quality wheel and ready to go.

You need to be buying some hot rodding mags.... Look for Ol' Skool Rodz, Hot Rod Deluxe and Rebel Rods to name a few.... There are loads of advertisers in there who have what you need.... Then of course there is the Hot Rod and Volksrod forums like HAMB and Volksrods.com and the many others, that also have plenty of good used stuff.... The next obvious thing to do it hit up the vintage swap meets.... I often see good usable wheels for sale for very reasonable prices.... Since my Dubrod is more a 60's style project, and I didn't want to run wires on my project, so I looked at other period options.... I scored some OG Oz made 12 spoke spindle mount rims from a local vintage swap for 200clams (sold them on to a local rodder as I want to run front brakes), and the 15x10 kidney spokes I scored out of the local trader rag for a carton of Coopers...

Thanks guys....

I have purchased some rod magazines and have been looking for suppliers.
I still have not found any supplier of wheels that are like the original ford wires. The new wires available are the adjustable spoke type with a lot more number of spokes making the rim look busy, cluttered and also the impression they are smaller in diameter.
For the time being I have bought a set of Toyota 16” rims (same as ford pattern) for $40 that I will use in the interim until I can source the wires I want. They will still give me a style I like of the 50’s/60’s and later I can just do a strip and fit to the wires I like for an earlier style.

Hi Vman. I agree the Tru Spoke look busy compared to the early Ford wire. What about the Fat Wire?

Hi Jinx,
The Fat wire is only available in 15" but the Mclean wheels look a lot better. Still have adjustable spokes but are less cluttered and as close to the original ford that I have see yet. Thanks, they may be an option pending price. I hope they can do them in a narrow width to suit 750-16 rear and 500/525-16 front firestone ww.
