Hi Barry

It may have been Ashley, he can be hard to contact. Space savers often come up on Ebay. I really like spacer savers, they give you much more boot space. I have a pumped up type space saver in my daily car, its from a Mazda, I had a new centre put in it with 4 x 130, 5 x 130 & 5 x 100 patterns, so its very useful.

Hi Barry

Neals Wheels did the centre for me, I had the steel plate already made up for it. In my yellow car I had Porsche pump up type space saver because I really needed the room.

Ashley is always at swaps and used to have a black dog with a limp.

This is the one from my yellow car http://www.clubvw.org.au/images/space_saver_spare.2.jpg

Barry when you find the guy or someone who does them, do a deal on 2 as I will eventually need one as well for the fasty.

Steve C, any idea if the space saver will go on with 944 Brembo brakes on there as well?

Hi

Then that's Ashley for sure. As I said he can be hard to contact.

Mattara, I had no clearance issues with the Brembos on my yellow car, the Porsche space saver rims I have are both 16 inch.

There is few ways to go about this.

1. Find a 15 x 4 inch stock bug wheel and have a new centre welded in with the appropriate bolt pattern and get a nice skinny tyre to fit it.

2. Buy a deflated type space saver from a Porsche, these usually go for between 100 - 200 on Ebay. You then need to carry a tyre pump. They give you lots more boot space, but if you have a flat what are your going to do with the flat? I've heard of Porsche drivers calling cabs to get their flat tyre home.

3. Use a space saver from another car and have a new centre welded in, you can either get deflated type or permanently inflated type.

Buy the time you stuff around with 1 & 3, 2 is looking fairly cost effective.

Hi Guys,

Where were you all when I had 5 to sell?

The best place to go is a Porsche Spares specialist, that is where I got mine.

There is a place at North Paramatta called Exoticar, ask them for a Porsche Spare or Space Saver spare, all the ones I have ever owned were 15 by 6 and I just put a 135 on it and it fitted any spare wheel well.

Expect to pay at least $150 for one.

Cheers,

David

PS I do not know exoticar or am anyway involved with them. Just trying to help out!

well - finally caught up with Ashley

$150 gets you a good as new 15" x 5 1/2" steel wheel with one of those funny collapsed tyres
The one i got has never been used.

you need an electric pump to use it. :dork:

These are fine for my Super - dont know about a Standard beetle though

He has about 6 more of these

I only bought one and there was another one there.

Havent pumped mine up yet
Need to get a pump

Reckon these are good value compared to other alternatives

Then again - a $10 can of Fineleek has worked for keeping gremlins away for a while
