Well, I've had a change in plans engine-wise with my oval (I'll keep the new engine details under wraps for now, but it could have the numbers, 2,
3, 3, and 2 in it, as well as some forced induction and efi).....so I've reluctantly decided to sell my super solid type IV engine.

I was going to turbo/efi this engine but have decided to go type I as I'd have to change too many parts in this engine to achieve my goals if I kept
this engine. I ran it in on the saturday of racing at Warwick last year, and apart from about 15 runs down the 1/8 mile strip it has done about 10
laps around my block at home since I haven't had time to sort out my brake lights/indicators etc etc - so its probably done under 100kms since the
rebuild.
Specs:
Crankshaft: Stock type IV 71mm reground and balanced by Crankshaft Engineering
Conrods: Stock balanced type IV rods
Pistons: 94.5mm with bored and honed stock cylinders
Compression ratio: 7.5:1 (55cc chambers, 0.035-0.040" deck height)
Camshaft: Jake Raby custom turbo grind (0.500" lift with split duration to favour exhaust for type IV heads)
Pushrods: Chromoly (cut to length - thanks Dangerous)
Lifters: Hardened webcam to match cam
Rocker arms: 1.7L modified to suit swivel feet adjusters
Springs: Dual heavy duty with pressures set up by head machinist on the gold coast (will have to dig up exact pressures as I can't find the number
right now)
Cylinder Heads: Reconditioned 2L heads, mild port and polish, hardened valve seats, 3 angle valve seat grind
Valves: Intake (41mm) and Exhaust (34mm) both from 1.8L type IV.
Oil pump: Full flow 30mm Shadek
Cooling: RAT DTM (Down The Middle) shroud including engine bay sealing tin (not in my oval, but will put a pic below in my ragtop) + external oil
filter and custom mount on bumper bracket
Induction: Dual 40mm Dellorto DRLA carbs upgraded with CB Performance update kit which uses a horizontal discharge tube and larger venturies for
better flow and fuel atomisation. K&N air filters. Match ported type IV manifolds which have been ceramic coated. Polished aluminium throttle
linkage.
Ignition: 009 dizzy, GT40 coil, can't remember brand of leads
Exhaust: Custom made by CES Racing (cost $2400 - have invoice)
210mm lightened flywheel, stock 1.8 clutch and pressure plate (balanced with crank etc).
Case has been drilled and tapped (thanks Damo) so oil galleys all clear). Correct rocker geometry has been set at zero, half and full lift. New repro
alternator, stainles braided lines from oil cooler to case and AN fittings, will also include AN banjo fittings on carbs and braided fuel lines (but
fuel regulator not included).
Also included is the custom breather box (cost me around $200) as well as all the -10 AN fittings and braided lines which route to the valve covers
(AN male fittings welded onto covers) (well over $300 in fittings/hoses etc).
So this is sold as a complete bolt in and drive away engine - no cutting of the engine bay requried contrary to popular belief. This engine has heaps
of torque but not the power band I need for drag racing (hence going with type I) - absolutely perfect for a cruiser/daily driver/beetle/splitty
(depending on exhaust and height of DTM).
Let me know if you have any questions. I still only have the single outer valve springs in the heads since warwick but will install the duals prior to
sale (once the engine is out of the oval) - you are welcome to come to the gold coast and test drive it in the oval, but please no tyre kickers as I
don't have lots of spare time at the moment.

No oil leaks (I haven't cleaned it since warwick - admittedly not a lot of miles but no signs of any leaks whatsoever!)
Mild steel headers ceramic coated plus stainless muffler (steel flange which is the only thing that has surface rust on it)
If you have a stock oval rear apron without exhaust cutouts you may have clearance problems, otherwise it will fit sweet with cutouts.

This shows full flow pump and return to case (high temp rubber lines and double clamps used) - standard filter at top of pic
This could be what your engine bay looks like! (your body may be a bit cleaner than the old oval though - it will get its resto later this year
hopefully)
Custom breather box - AN fitting on top of carb could be plumbed into box if KN breather is removed and male AN bung welded onto box.
I've spent way more than $5500 on this engine but I'm not expecting to get it all back, however this is a brand new engine with many hours put into
it with attention to detail on things like geometry and tolerances etc, I don't want to split it up and sell the DTM/exhaust/carbs/longblock
separately but will do so if there is insufficient interest as I'm not prepared to give the engine away for below the listed price.

No worries Nick, you might have to beat Damo up though (well at least try) as beat you to dibs on DTM and exhaust already! You could always buy the
entire engine though, then sell the longblock to a kombi owner wanting a reco'd 2L and recoup over 2/3 of your outlay!  hehehe

Hi guys, replies sent to all - first contact was from a fellow in melbourne (peter) so I will honour that and give him first right of refusal as
ghiaguy got in second via email (has committed to coming down to test drive), then Paulr via PM, then another fellow via email (alberto) is forth in
line.
I'll do my best to do the right thing by all but ultimately the sooner it is sold the better so I really can't afford to be run around.

Quick update, Peter from melbourne has given ghiaguy the go-ahead to be next in line due to timing of funds.....so Michael (ghiaguy) is coming down
tomorrow to test drive - if he pulls out, then it opens it up to Paulr, then Alberto (who I haven't heard back from), then Nick/Damo/waltermitty if
the engine is parted out.
Thanks again for the interest, I guess it is priced reasonably considering the interest I've had so far!
