6v genertor - URGENT
Ok so my generator bearings are cactus and I need the car on the road still to get to work and such so can someone tell me the part numbers of the
bearings so that I can get them and then rip the thing apart and replace them so I'm not off the road too long.
Also does the engine need to be removed to get the generator out. Or can I take the fan off in car by putting a socket and breaker bar on the big fan
retaining nut( i know i can get to it but stopping it from spinning may be an issue) and then remove the generator thusly?

The engine does not need to be removed, but there are issues with generators and you may need to involve an auto electrician as the wiring can also be
a major issue. Why do you think it is the bearings? Could be a not so simple replacement of the brushes!

It's the bearings. There is axial movement of the generator shaft. This is due to me beating it senseless with a hammer as my car was stranded in the
middle of nowhere as the pulley on the shaft decided to rip in two and I had minimal tools and brute force was my only option to remove the old
remaining parts and replace the pulley. Thus I have completely borked the bearings in it. But it got the car home and that was my only concern at the
time.
Changing the brushes isn't overly hard...just a little fiddly. And the brushes ain't gonna make this kind of horrendous noise.
What do you mean issues with generators and may need an auto elec? The generator is perfectly fine otherwise. The only issue here is me and brute
force but it couldn't be avoided at the time.

just check the numbers off the ones you remove. a good bearing supplier will have them in stock, just ring around.

Next question how do I get the bearings off the shaft. Not seeing any particularly easy way? And actually those stupid friggen thin arse dished
washers that sit in front of each bearing which don't seem to want to budge but just want to bend.

probably a circlip in front of bearing?? not sure without seeing it. bearings need to come off with a bearing puller so that you dont stuff the shaft.
then when you put the new ones on you need a bearing heater then press them on.
