timing marks
Hello all
Any ideas where the timing marks on an 1800 engine are.Cant seem to find them. there are no marks on either pully wheels.

You might have to make your own after finding TDC on #1. I believe there are a few methods of doing it. One of them is putting something long and thin
in #1 and ultra carefully turning the motor until you find the highest point.
Also have you looked at behind the V belt. It was there on my van for some reason. The stuff in front of the V belt in the picture is just to make it
easier to do the timing. There was no marking whatsoever in front of the pulley before I put that paint there.
If at first you don't succeed. Build, build again.

The plastic timing scales often break off. This is a aluminium one from aircooled net.
If your motor has a single vac advance unit its 7.5 BTDC

Yum! Thanks for showing the aluminium timing thing to me. I mean mine is still intact somehow, but that one is much nicer.
My plastic one has chunks ground out of it front and back by the pulley and the fan. I have no idea how. There are also grind marks on some of the
tinware. That's why I did the respray recently.
I have to admit, even doign the timing both statically and with a strobe I'm still convinced my timing is off. I dunno anymore.
