Wheel Alignment Question
After putting in the "new" front beam from Todd (thanks Todd), I went and had a wheel alignment done. The guy who did it has set the camber
on the left wheel at -17 minutes and the right wheel as + 57 minutes.
When I questioned them about it they said "that is what they set all the cars to so they drive straight on cambered roads".
I have since checked the manual on what the factory specs are and they say +30 minutes each side.
So my question is, is the wheel alignment place right or wrong ?
The buggy does not drive "solidly" as before. The front seems to want to "track" to any deviations in the road.

I take it you have a Ball Joint front end if not what year is the car ??? or buggy or does it have disc brakes.
did you check the straightness of the NEW front beam ?????
What the wheel alinginer guy meant to say to you....
IS THAT HE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND OLD TYPE SUSPENSIONS THAT HAVE ADJUSTABLE CAMBER, CASTER AND TOE IN / OUT
in other words he can only align Jap or Holden or Fords.

Hey thanks guys for your advice. I am going to take the buggy back to the same people and get them to set it to factory specs. Noiw that I have paid
my money I dont want to have to go somewhere else and pay again.
It is a ball joint front end and it is straight.
I certainly wont be going back to them.
59Bus, my buggy is actually a J&S - that is why you think it looks so good for a Manx !!!

Have you got Castor shims fitted behind the lower beam tube, and bulkhead of chassis.
If you have a lower front end, then castor shims are a MUST before you get any wheel alignment.

Forgot to say i built a J&S buggy with a disc brake ball joint chassis, back in 1973/74, maybe its my old car.

The front end is standard and so I have not had to put any shims behind it.
This buggy used to have a 59 chassis in it with drum brakes and I rebuilt it with a 69 chassis about 2 years ago, so I don't think it would be
your old one.

i agree with lugnuts, eastcoast have done both my cars. there is no doubt they know what they are doing, you just have to look at all the race cars
