'58 big window with tripmeter speedo Any Info?

A friend was telling me about one today, said it had a chrome looking tripmeter knob, other than that it looked like a normal '58 speedo, clear needle etc.

Can anyone offer some info? were these an Aus option or, maybe an imported Beetle. John (IN2VWS) have you heard of these?

Regards,

Matt.

Matt

these are origional VDO VW assessories that you could purchase as an option when you bought the car new or later on over the VW dealership counter

this is the 36hp engine speedo as it only goes to 80 MPH

What sort of price does a genuine one fetch John?
