R5 NSW Hillclimb - Newcastle / Ringwood 2nd & 3rd August

As the title says R5 of the NSW Hillclimb Championship is on the weekend of 3rd August.

DATE: 2nd & 3rd August
LOC: Ringwood. Itala Rd Raymond Terrace.
TIME: 9am start

For those interested you should pop in for a bit of VW action. There are a few beetles trying hard in the imp pro class. Facilities are good, spectating is good and the event is really well run by MGCC.

It is the same W/E as valla, so those heading home south bound should call in on your way home. Only a 30 second detour off the highway. Good spot for lunch maybe.

Hope to see you there,

There are a few beetles running at this event including mine, the campbell and durie 68ers. Fingers crossed the weather will be fine. Apart from the VW's there are some other really quick race cars competing, including some quick datos, toronas and other big bangers, Skylines and the like.

There is now is practice on Saturday (10:00am start) as well as Sundays racing, so there is two (2) days of racing action. It would be great to see some motor sport supporters there. MGCC are trying their hardest to try and get a new race track and international drag strip built on this site and the more people who go and support these types of events (and the club) is only a benefit for the motorsport community.

If anyone is heading home from Valla on Saturday or Sunday morning pop in and have a look. And if you do call in, come and day hello. Im the one in the tatty white beetle (153) with steel rims

What a great weekend

Fine and reasonably warm

Newcastles has had so much rain lately, was great to see sunshine all weekend

Christine was the standout driver of the weekend. Gave all the boys a lesson in how to put down fast consistant splits

Best times Heath 32.5, Christine 32.8, Ben 30.0, Nathan 33.2, Amy in Bens Beetle 33.5

Christine topped the beetles in the top ten shootout and came 4th overall, after quallifying 10th....... Stuk it to several open wheelers and a sports sedan. I qualified 6th or 7th but folded under the pressure of trying to top Christines time and went a little cross country nailing several witches hats in the process....not that I lifted off for em

Well done Heath :tu:

I'm amazed that you guys aren't regurlarly in the 31's. I was doing low 32's some 11 years ago on 2 year old tyres !!!!.................now the beetles have 50 series tyres with soft compounds (some with new sets for every event), alloy rims, better brakes, fuel injection, state of the art computers, motors full of high $$ go fast parts.... and only pulling times .2 of a sec quicker !!

I guess it really isn't a good track, nor does it have any real technical parts to it.............so I guess the times will remain pretty much the same for years to come.........unless like you say they actually do something with it !

Yeh we've got our sights on 31's

Closest so far Ben 32.38

The track is starting to break up in more recent times. The circuit and drag strip and appeal has been has now been rejected by the land and enviroment court, so the attention may now be turned to extending and resurfacing of the existing hillclimb facility.

But despite the extra challenge of having the car unsettled at several areas around the track, I feel a high 31 isnt out of the question.

The fasest of the four paws has a 31.8..............He lowered his first split to an incredably fast 3.2 seconds (Beetle on good day 3.6)..........It's amazing what the addition of a super fast acting racing computer to replace the standard drain can achive.
