And again... 009 dizzy on type 3

I know this has been brought before, but why are the 009 dizzies no good on type 3's with dual carbs. Are the old vacum ones easy to get. Are electronic ignitions a option and if so what ones?

thanks

yes electronic ignition is available for most distributers now..........and fairly cheap, try the simple "compu-fire"

the 009 will work fine, i have had them on all types and sizes of VW's, both modified and standard, with no problems............it may not be the very bestust optimum set up, but will run trouble free if you take make sure and time it correctly

with duel carbys and a 009 it's very rearly the dizzy thats the problem usually the carbys are out of sinc i run a supercharger with a 009 no worries and the klast time i came in contact with a duel carby setup sure enough the carbys were so far out that it surprisedme that it even ran at all
good luck but start at the carbys

biggest problem wiht 009s is the lack of vacuum means the engine doesnt get the advance it needs down low

009 are only good for 2 things idling and WOT
they were for race use for this reason

they work ok on earlier single port vws that u really have to drive hard but later engines especially twin port 1600s theyre shocking
anyone that says they work great hasnt driven there car with a functioning stock dissy
u can tune most of the flat spot out but u will slaughter ur fuel economy doing it
the only real way to compensate for the lack of advance at low revs is to dump more fuel in

alot of ppl who make the change from 009 to a good stock dissy cant get over how much nicer there car is to drive and how much better their economy is
