Re-chrome the De-chromed

i'm thinking of chroming my de-chromed beetle.

IS this easy, difficult, messy, regrettable?

Can you buy after market kits or is it best to source some original stuff.

Do they glue in or insert through the holes?

When drilling holes, is there any need to protect to exposed metal from the hole?

i think you'll find the side strips are not chromed at all and a polished aluminium or stainless?

can either have them polished up or shouldn';t have any issues getting them chromed.

Ha, twists in 17x 6 or 7's maybe.

There is something a little plain about it. I think some side strip trim and running board trim could brighten it up a little.
