My old rat split ute
This is my old split ute ive had for nearly 15 years now,it was used as a roo shooter before i got it, its a good old faithful ute that is still used
as a good work horse when i need it.Sometimes it sits around for 9 months to a year before starting but off it goes again when you need it.I made
dropped spindles, an adjustable beam and rear swing kit for it,i also rebuilt a 1600 and threw on a homemade sidewinder exhaust, huge pipes, sounds
really good too, its wound up as high as i can get it but its still too low, gets a bit dangerous when the tyres hit the wheel arches at high
speed
Ps, the pic below is how i got it, i swapped it for a few vans, back when they were worthless, i drove 1 of my vans to where it was at malaney, pulled
the motor out, shoved it in the ute with a drum of fuel and drove the ute home with just a handbrake, its a round trip of probably 100ks including
going up and down a steep mountain range, amazing it made it as the ute sat for many many years, these days i wouldnt even contemplate it, the things
you do when you are a teenager

i had to drop a ute load of dirt and mulch with this thing at the tip the other day, only had 500 kilos on it according to the weighbridge it broke
down on but it was that low i could barely drive it, you could smell the
smoke frome the constant tyre rub on the front wheel arches, makes you wander why you lower these things

wow steve it still lives? last i saw it it was growing mould on the white house paint under you carport, which added even more class. good to see the
company comondoor hasnt taken over completely.

Hey Rexy - does the old work horse have some kind of love affair with being mounted by other Beetles!! Nonetheless, looks like a ripper splitty.
Enjoyed the description of how you acquired it and eventually got it home. They do not make them like they used to!

Can't understand why people restore ute's until they are shiney and perfect. It makes them unusable and no longer practical for throwing a load
in.
El Concreto has been used for everything from Carrying Beetle bodies, garden mulch, curbside collection goodies to our whole kitchen...
