Besides we always have a crappy time. I mean the day starts out fine, we have Macca's for breakfast cruise up the coast thinking we are cool. Then we get to some stupid sandy place and try and figure out which way to go

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/104_0432_jpg.jpg

Eventually we find some more sand and end up on a boat

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/104_0435_jpg.sized.jpg

Then more often that not the boat runs aground, and no where near the luxury resort we are planning on staying at so we all have to get off and fend for ourselves.

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/104_0436_jpg.sized.jpg

More often that not we end up pushing our buggies in an attempt to save fuel.

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/104_0438_jpg.sized.jpg

Then before we know it we have to sit under the trees, drink beer and try and cool off from all the pushing

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/104_0454_jpg.sized.jpg

Some guys even take their wheels off to try and save on the cost of tyres

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/104_0455_jpg.sized.jpg

Eventually we just give up and camp on the side of the road and wait for rich people in 4WD to bum a smoke and bag of ice off

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/104_0456_jpg.sized.jpg

When that fails we end up lining up and begging all those who go buy to help push us home

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/104_0471_jpg.sized.jpg

When that doesn't work we are forced to travel in pairs

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/105_0527_jpg.sized.jpg

Cause if we don't we get into poo poo

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/105_0512_jpg.sized.jpg

Then when we do get off the beach and try and go looking at stuff the traffic SUX..

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/105_0540_jpg.sized.jpg

Not to mention how long it takes the damn RACQ to show up

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/105_0563_jpg.sized.jpg

I tried to get help but could not seem to get my buggy on the flight so decided to stay

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/105_0581_jpg.sized.jpg

So back to lining up and beggying for fuel money

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/114_1459_IMG_jpg.sized.jpg

Then by the time we get back to the boat and try and go home it has all turned to ^*%&*^%

http://www.manxgallery.org/gallery/albums/Fraser2003/105_0505_jpg.sized.jpg

Yep the Fraser Trip SUX and should be avoided at all costs, damn Manx Club Members making me organise it again .....

Now once we are on

As I said before it was crappy and not worth the drive.

Damn sun stayed out all week and and buggied kept getting stuck and making me wind the windows on the 80 series and let the air con out ...

Although a few people did say that swiming was a much better way to cool off,

If only they had of been smart enough to get out of the buggy first.....

Some did manage to do it with a bit more style

And I have no idea how but Andrew managed to keep the EG33 Powered Baja Bus in one piece, although I did hear he hit a tree.

I'm looking at some of the places showing people stuck and it amazes me how some of you do it???

i drive a 4wd tour bus throught the same tracks and dont' seem to have an issue at all....

In fact i have been on truckloads of holidays to Fraser in the last 30 odd years and the amount of times I have had to get out of VW to get it out of a sticky situation i could count on a couple of fingers....

and this is ALL over the island(cause back in the day you could got everywhere)

Will be back on the island doing tours soon as busy season is starting already(bring on the Brazilian back packers hehehehe)

That is easy to answer, Driver Ability and the other idiots on the beach.

Whilel we were there I saw a few tourist buses get stuck, always due to incompetant drivers, no other reason. Pretty sure I even have video of one of the boys pulling up beside and asking if they wanted a tow.

The other issue is other drivers. If you are going through, say the Indian Head cutting and some idiot is coming the other way and crosses over causing you to slam on the brakes then chances are you are gunna be stuck. Not your fault but stuff happens.

I spent some time towing clowns out, main reason they were stuck was driver error, ie they were too stupid to let their tyres down cause they knew boats.

You would think when some guy pulls up in a loaded Landcruiser beside them and then drives around stops in front and pulls them out in there new $80 000 4WD they would ask themselve, how can he do that.... I would say about 30 PSI less and half a clue... people just seem to think their great new 4WD don't need to let its tyres down.

Anyway, the buggy in the creek was just plain stupidity, but it made good video and I didn;t have to clean it out, just tow him ..

The majority of the guys that came over drove around liek it was sealed road all week and never had an issue.

The Police where around a fair bit but apart from one driver getting a caution for drink driving nothing much happened.

You only have to look at the photos at Rainbow Beach to realise tour busses are not immune to bogging and accidents. It is all about driver ability not the vehicle, somewhere on this site I believe is a shot of a Porsche Cayenne bogged on Teewah where the owner has obvously spent heaps of money expecting his vehicle will take him anywhere only to find out otherwise. Sit on the beach for an hour at high tide and watch the cars coming along through rutted sand, the more skilled/knowledgeable drivers just seem to cruise along reasonably smoothly but then you'll see someone fighting the wheel and the car jumping all over the place, the speed is the same. BTW I'm not sure my choice of the word 'ability' is the right choice but you catch my drift.
