1972 Bus!
Here is my Bus.
atm stock 1600cc
not bad sounds system, sony exlpod head deck, 2 x Pioneer 10cm,s in front doors, 2 x Alpine 6x9's in the back and 2 x 10 inch kicker sub's to go in
the back after i buy an amp haha..
big plans for the engine also, get it up to about a 2 litre eventually.
exterior wise, new paintjob and new panels maybe go a bit lower.

That looks awesome mate! No wonder you want a bit more power with all that checkerplate and timber in there 
Might wanna look at 2.0 type 4 engine out of a later model kombi, although I dont know much bout kombis so don't know what you would need to do to
put that in.

Very nice looking kombi,i dont mind your wheels they look good on there and you dont see to many kombis with them???stand out from the croud cheers

Yeah I think you can buy subi motors by the container per kilo out of Japan I hear. Subi motors the choice of the failed project!

haha cheers guys! 2.0L is an option. but i like the simplicity of a 1600, probs cheaper to work that. and my girfriends dad is a mechanic and he has a
mate that wrecks engines and such. He could get hold of one easy for me... turbo charged and all... reckon the cops would suspect a Kombi as a pure
turbo charged weapon:P

The best year for the microbus in my opinion.. And the 1600 is a classic, hardworking donk.. Don't change for a type 4.. IMO
I had a 72 and wish I still did..
Keep it stock.. you won't regret it..

I could not agree with you more mate. although 71. cant go past those taillight and curvy air intakes... I won't be changing for a type for, too much
effort haha. can i keep it fairly stock with some bolt on "assistance"? :P haha

BTW, Carter listen to Stenguns for now. Leave it stock for now and then make up your mind later. And beware of the Type 4s are the best thing since
sliced bread argument. They're are ok but their heads don't like turboes very much in a heavy car like a bus.

No WRC around back then Pete!! but of all the reliability trials held how many "aircooled" VW's won or placed in them?? Quite a few me thinks...

Again get the heads done properly and reliability isn't an issue. My van is running the original Type 4 and has had a full rebuild once and top end
done once since the total rebuild. I've done 364000 k's since the rebuild and believe me they have been some hard k's at that.(like from Kingaroy
to Slacks Creek in 1hr 25minutes or from Slacks Creek to Bald Hills in 18 minutes) The only reason I had to do the top end again was due to dropping
exhaust valve and the failure was caused by revving the shite out of it alll the time.
Things I certainly wouldn't do now but when i was younger i was merciless on the machinery. I fixed the damage from the dropped valve(2nd hand
piston, new exhaust valves, set of rings and gasket kit) and put it back together and drove to Warwick and raced it. Then drove it home again.
Reliability is a word I have associated with my Type 4 but again it depends on who builds it.
I was quicker than the Suby powered buses at warwick who would be making more power than I am but lack the vital element needed to push a bus...

Great looking bus mate. Do youself a favour and leave it aircooled. If you ever have to sell it your resale will be much better caused it hasn't been
cut up and tampered with.

Cheers Guys! haha sorry. but i'm sure i could work a 1600 to flog a type four  :P and i'm pretty blessed to have the 72 as they go the bigger engine bay, so it's really not that much more cutting and hacking to
put in a subi. Afew mods here and there for engine mounts, radiator etc. but i've seen em all tuck in nice and tight.
it's a very futuristic plan, so don't worry i will be aircooled for a long time to come.
I love the aircooled engine, I dont worry about speed don't take me the wrong way haha.
Putting a subi engine in it, for me is another accomplishment in my life, sure more speed too but thats not the main reason i would do it
plus i would not get rid of my 1600.. man i love that thing.
