side mirror ideas n pics
trying to find a nice set of door mirrors for my baja project - anyone have any ideas?? - pics would be good...I'm finding it hard to get the right
shape/size etc etc...
oh, they are not the hinge pin type - so will need to bolt on to the door and the quarter vent will still need to open!

I,m keeping an eye on this thread 'cos my son can't make his mind up at the moment. Round mirrors certainly suit the beetle shape but getting the
right sort that fit is another thing. We've now got a nice little collection going at our house but I'm tending towards hotrod style mirrors that
fit to the top of the door and hang down if you know what I mean, but my son is not so sure of them and it is his car.

im also interested
just be aware with some like those round hotrod ones if theres to close to the car theyre pretty useless
i changed my original chrome ones for those black plastic brazillian ones
they suck cos they suffer from this problem
left one is usless unless u wanna makesure ur chrome strips havent fallen off
i put colour coded baby turbos on the black bug but there a somewhat dated mirror, very 80s flavour
im looking round at various bike mirrors at the moment
some look like they could be adapted well

I use a CBR600 motorcycle mirror. It has a bolt front and back which is hidden under the rubber boot once installed.

Joel, I had those type on my beetle in about '77 back in England. I've never even seen them in Oz plus I'd have thought you lot would have laughed
at me for being too old school
BTW where do they sell them

there seems to be a few variations of baby turbos out there
i had the old 80s style ones on my black bug
they were abit weathered and ratty so i colour coded them when i resprayed it and they came up ok
prick of a job tho

but i have no idea if u can even still get them
the ones on this GL have baby turbo bases tho so are probably the current style but ive never seen them advertised anywhere

Marc and Barry, i came across those on ebay but they havent been relisted yet so if another set comes up ill let u know

Hi
I don't like drilling extra holes in my car so I used XA Falcon mirrors modified to fit the stock mirror hole, these were on my old 1302.

I will be doing something similar on my new 1303 but using XR Falcon mirrors instead.

My car had baby turbo mirrors when I got it, and they sucked. Well I thought so anyway. Whoever put them on filled the original mirror holes, and when
I had it repainted I filled the baby turbo mirror holes. So I was starting with a clean slate.
The bike mirrors come in different lengths. Some are long and would look weird, but the ones I got were shorter. I just went to a bike wrecker and dug
around in their mirror bin.

In the meantime I bought a pair of those baby turbos and fitted them but they look crap so I'm still looking but I've got to say I certainly like
Wes's idea and have been looking at quite a few bikes recently.

i was looking for a reasonable style for my buggy, just by chance I found some on ebay that looked like what I was after, won at a bargain price, they
were off some sort of m/bike and were from The Big Apple, I reckon they look great but I think I'm the only one who thinks so.

I bought bullet style side mirrors looked great but when you looked in them you just saw yourself looking back, and they were not adjustable.
