Engine Bay Key

I apologise if the title is incorrect....

Just bought 69 beetle. The engine bay cover has a lock on it but we are having trouble with unlocking it. Wife did have it open but not having much luck. Is the best bet to take it to a locksmith and have a look at it or buy a new barrell and replace it?

Where would I get a new barrell from???

Thanks in advance - JL

UPDATE - managed to get in after much wiggling of the RIGHT key.....
