What did you do to raise your motor?
Hey guys,
If youve raised your motor, could you please let me know you done it? I made some nolothane blocks but they didnt work out with the bolt angles and
the like. Ultimately, Id love someone to say...." Ive got an IRS gearbox/engine mount that raises the motor 25mm. You can have it for a case of
beer." So, does someone have one or can they make me one for $$ to suit a Type 3?

PS For what its worth, Im not really after a debate on weather I should raise the motor or not. Theres a couple of reasons I need to do it.

One of the reasons wouldnt be a oil sump sitting on the ground would it?
Speak with Richard, they have raised many a gearbox and prob set you right direction, I unfortunately as you know have not started with mine and will
also be raising and moving forward to make way for the 915 box...............so Im not exactly sure yet what is involved.

Hi
I've never seen a kit, but I think you could do it by bolting some square tubing to the flat on the rubber mount and then drill some other locating
holes on the other side of the square tubing for the bell housing mounts.

the yanks sell a 10deg bus box mount system that would do the trick...if you had a bus box.
where abouts are you in sydney? maybe I could come and have a look and give you some ideas. In fact, now I come to think of it, I reckon you could do
something very easily using urethane mounts and a bit of fabbing. are you using the chassis horns out of the older style subframe?

i got one from custom vee dub that they custom made to raise the trans 50mm. If you talk to Dyno down there he may be able to tee another one up.

Well, thats on of the reasons, Andrew. Another is that the throttle body hits the edge of the engine lid opening by about 5mm. Instead of cutting
this, I thought Id try and kill two birds with one stone. Ill let you know what turns out.

Thats pretty much what Im thinking now, Steve. Even though that entails splitting the motor from the box....AGAIN! The motor is in and running so I
was hoping I could come up with a solution without going through the ordeal. Bit of a pain on your own....

Yeah, no bus box here, Pete. I have the red urethane mounts and I can/did also craft up poly "blocks" to "extend" them at work but once again,
without splitting the box/motor, it was hard, as the bottom of the mounts are curved and angles are weird. Im thinking now that I may fab up a deeper
bracket where the original one bolt to the forks. In effect, it would allow me to redrill the 24mm mounting bolts 25mm lower.... Im over in Randwick
and would be happy for you to come over to give me some ideas when your free. If you choose to, let me know. Im around most of the time.

Ya posted just as I was writing the last reply, mate! That is exactly what I just said in the reply to Pete...
50mm will be too much but 30mm would be perfect. Ill contact Dyno and see what he says.

i'm pretty sure i can get the larger callipers mounted front and rear but its going to be a challenge at the front I'll post some picture in a few weeks when i get a prototype mount
fabricated.

some of the boys on melberluft have a mount that raises the box about 50mm and then you use a split window nose cone to keep the shifter in the tunnel

Only if you do the type 1 nose adapter from Berg, Weddle or ...(where dave got his, some Canadian mob).
This is the best way to go by far, just a little painful for the back pocket.
