Over exhausted??

Hi All,

Joel said in a post last week (I think):

"vws by nature were undercarbed and over exhausted to give good economy and long life"

Now the undercarbed bit I understand, but from a technical point of view, I don't understand how a engine can be overexhausted. Logically I would have thought that the quicker and more efficiently you remove the exhaust gases from the engine the better, but I take it this is not the case?

Can someone please explain to me why this is so, and how it works??

Thanks for your help.

Craig

go put ur foot over the tail pipes
thats what a stock exhuast does to an engine

thats how extractors improve performance,
they flow alot more freely and all 4 runners are equal length

take a look at a stock exhaust cut open u'll see why they suck
compare the stock one to a quiet pack

craig, what joel was saying is that the exhaust system is quite restricted not that it is free flowing, like how you interpreted joel's statment
