here are some pics of the engine i have been building,
its a 2332cc (84mm stroke 94mm bore). CB super case,
CB forged crank, CB 5.6 inch H beam rods, engle FK89
cam, heads 42mm inlet 37.5 exhaust, some porting of my
own. 10.2:1 comp and some 48mm IDA webers.

Not wanting to be negative, so please take this as you will, but if you want to get your money's worth out of this engine combo, I would highly
recommend improving that port job or get someone who knows what they're doing or put in a smaller cam. Looks like you got some great bits, would be a
shame to waste them. Looks like you have started to blend the seat to the port, which is a start, but there's a lot more work to do in there. I
figure your thread went quiet as nobody wants to not give praise, call it constructive criticism. Good luck with the project. Matt

looks like a good start, and think that is some good advice from matberry.
i would love to build my own engine and was just wondering how much experience/knowledge you need to take on something like this?

Im no expert on porting of heads, so I got mine done by the experts.
Only reason I havent commented on the thread is that I havent read it yet!
I like the bug, especially the one pc windows. I wish I had gone through with that on mine, I think it really suits the lines on the bug.
As for Mat's comments, he is one of those that know, so take the advise. Plenty of good advise on the forum. Get some more pics up man,.....

thanks for the replys guys. mat the heads are only minor
porting at the moment slowly slowly will get better.
this is the same porting i done on my 1835 and the
best time i got out of that was 13.15 at 98mph.
its all trial and error and progressing from there.
there is only one way to learn...

thanks mat. i like your car also, good eighth mile times too.
have you ran over the quarter at all?
the 1835 was a screamer, awsome off the line but was
lacking in the top end after the 2332 i want to do another
1835 and try tweak a bit more out of it.

a stroker motor is alot more harder then building a non
stroker motor. i wouldnt build a stroker without previous
experience.

does that mean using a bigger size crankshaft than the stock 69mm? sorry i am new to this

a 1915cc is just bigger pistons and barrels.
but with the 1915 you need to get the case and
heads machined so the barrels will fit. if you havnt built
a std motor before i wouldnt build one that you spend
your hard earned dollars on and it fail. get someone who
knows what they are doing to put it together for you.

Anyone can build an engine with relatively basic skills, but certain jobs require specialised tools, and certainly there are good books that explain
the process well. How to Hotrod VW Engines, although old (written in the 70's) still has invaluable info on the subject. Displacement is increased by
increasing the bore or stroke or BOTH. Increasing bore bolts together easiest but any increase in bore size will increase the compression ratio which
makes the engine more powerful but also run hotter so a balance needs to be found. Increase stroke and all sorts of things change...... get the
book.

Matt - yeah i am looking at maybe building my 1600 dp up to a 1915 if i think i can manage it, would be a good learning experience i think  ... i have become very fascinated with the enigine building stuff
and doing as much reading as i can. i am one year out of school and am thinking i might want to to a mechanic apprenticeship (engine building would be
great so we'll see)
I have a little knowledge from working on my own car, and did 2 days work experience at Custom VeeDub with Pete which was great fun, and reading up
stuff on here of course!!
Sorry to hijack your thread Ben, but would i need to buy a counterweighted crankshaft (69mm) if i were to attempt to build a 1915? as i have heard
that the stock ones can bend at that much power/ high rpm etc...

Build a basic engine with stock parts...a good learner for cheap, to find out how things work and go together is one way to do it. What size depends
on what budget your prepared to play with, and start your own thread for ideas maybe
type3vw, proof your 1835 was doin alright, I've had my car on the quarter just the once, it really needs the suspension sorted , but ran 13.14 @ 104.
Broke a clutch cable so missed out on the 'certain' 12 that night
Cranky was previously owned by Michael N and ran a best of 11.99, when Mike ran the same combo, he managed an 11.6? I think, Those in the know may
correct me, so there's plenty of cars to aspire to (if that makes sense)
