Best place to get ur beetle Resprayed/panel beated?!?!?!
gday all! yup, its me again! with another Hopefully helpful post!
ok, so this time im wondering, where in sydney is the best place to get a respray. and do u have any idea of the costs?
I.E. my mechanic says he has a mate in concord that will panel beat and respray the whole car for approx 3k? is this a good price? or i can just get
then panel beating done for i think 700-800? which includes:
new right rear guard and sprayed
Front right guard beated
rear apron beated
front left guard beated a little (tiny little dent that gives me the shits)
i also have a friend who's dad is a panel beater but i havn't asked him yet as i want AVD's opinion first!
So im looking to get the car's dings and what not fixed up. but as i was cleaning it the other day, it occured to me, sure the parts that are getting
fixied are going to look nice, but what about the rest of the car?, iv got paint chips all over it! some on the door from rocks on the freeway, on the
insides of the doors when ppl just let go of the seatbelt and it flys n hits the door. (retractable seatbelts)
my paint has many, many imperfections, most of which will come out with a good detailing, but the chips of paint missing wont! sigh... this is all
courtesy of my brother who owned it b4 i did, he didnt care about it all all. now i have to pay to fix it
SO!!! what does AVD think?
ill post pics! to give u all a better idea! but i need an oppinion from experienced VW'ers! help a dubber in need
Once agian!!! Cheers all!! Loves yas!

Peeling paint I would remove all paints existing to bare metal, and then you start getting into $10,000 if you have to pay someone else.

hmm....go buy a $40 5inch grinder from supercheap and one of those "brumby" blue scotchbrite pads...oh and safety glasses...anywhere you got peeling
paint buff it down to shiny metal...then you will know what needs repairing before you can paint this experience can be very interesting

haha ok so... if i sand back the paint to bare metal, is it only the parts with peeling paint? or the whole car? and if i do the work myself? how much
do u think it would cost then? do they need to do anyhitng special or is it just the same as a normal respray?

Mate if you have no panel beating expertise go to a professional, 3 grand is dirt cheap if his work is good,if not it is bloody expensive
.Particularly in 6 months time when you have bits of bog starting to drop out, rust showing under the shiny paint and it goes on.You get what you pay
for. I don't know any tradesmen in Sydney but after seeing the vehicles at the shows some of the guys on the forum must be using a good shop they
will recomend.

like i said...take the bad bits back to bare metal and see where it goes. nothing wrong with a bit of good bog but not if its hiding rust. your car
looks pretty good in the pics and you may just have a couple of places need fixing before you spray expensive paint on it
