Chrome molding install on Beetle

Can someone please tell me how many holes there are in the side panels of a early S Beetle for the chrome strips. Maybe some distances too if you have a few spare minutes. Can any one offer some tips on this job?
Many thanks, Brad.

The front quarter panel has 3 holes. Looking at mine they are at 25mm, then 325mm then 625mm forward from the A pillar. The door and rear quarter panel have 5 holes but I am not sure of the hole spacings on them. It looks like about 50mm back from the A pillar on the door and the same back from the B pillar for the rear quarter pane for the first holes.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Yogie that helps heaps.

I ordered the body molding kit and clips from CVW. I think they might be the plastic clips.

If I were going to add a chrome strip to a beetle, I wouldn't drill holes and use clips. I think it would be better to use double sided tape rather then hacking into the body. Also, you can always remove it if you dont like it or a change with the seasons or reposition the strip if your door drops. Just my 2c worth.

Kev

I thought rebuilding a VW would be cheap - Shit I was wrong, just don't let the wife know !!!!

Its a 72 S Beetle. I ordered the narrow strips, German not Brazilian. I don't know what clips come with these yet as I just asked for a clip kit?

Thats a pretty good idea. Would you think the double side tape would still hold if it got a bit of heat into it? That would be my only concern.
