my steering becomes very floaty.???
my steering becomes very floaty at the oil light in third gear and i am scared to try four .
I want to keep it looking like a sleeper??
any ideas
The suspension is all new bushes shocks, struts etc.
I want to try and keep the nice super bug ride

Hi Ian
Most of the problem is air getting under the front, a very small amount of lowering will help and still keep the scone goobler look.
Just have the lower spring perches lowered about 2 inches, remove the stock bump stop and fit a trimmed down Mk1 Golf bump instead, the plastic dust
heild can still be used.

I assume that you have a strut bar,if so put some decent wheels and tyres on, 35mm drop on the front end also works.I also like a nice standard
looking beetle but if you are going to drive at these speeds as we used to in times past you have to make some allowances for non standard looks.

I am really digging your sleeper. Would you be able to show with some pictures how you mounted the rear bumper? This is one thing that I am a little
stumped about.

It all just bolts on and you can change the spark plugs without taking any thing off. rough looking but it does the job

You should be able to reduce the front-end lift at speed by creating a subtle front air dam. On the old Torana GTR XU-1's the small front air dam
made a great deal of difference to lift, though you could hardly see it at the front.
Clarke Rubber have some nice, firm, 50 mm ++ deep rubber mouldings that might work and won't break on every speed hump.

I had to get some potting mix on the weekend to do a spot of gardening and three 20kg bags under the bonnet made it a fair bit better and potting mix
is cheap

damn thats sweet mate nice job, lovin the sleeper look. you couldnt really do it any better.
as for the handling of it, at a guess 200+hp with crap tyres and stock jelly height might have something to do with it i think. i would lower it a
little not to to low tho and while your at it id stiffin it up heaps. and run some nice 15 or 16 steelies with hubbies wrapped in some semi slickies
or some nice handling tyres,
it wont change the look of it to much but youll love the diff it makes to the handling. i wouldnt really go a mag/alloy wheel cause you will wreck the
stock slow look, wow will some rice burners and dunny door drivers be in for a big shock. ahahah love it mate keep it up and good luck with it
