WTB: Lockable Glovebox Lid for '74 Superbeetle

Hi,

Have just bought Karmann Cab, and doesn't have a lockable glovebox lid, hence looking for one in black (see photo attached)

Cheers

unless u can find a good 2nd hand locking one with a key which just doesnt happen bout the only place u'll get a new one is from WCM in the US

i broke mine when i first got my bug and it was $80 from the US for a new NON locking one and that was 9 years ago

i ended up getting a locking one from a mk1 golf at the wreckers and modifying it to fit

I'm not sure where you can get a lid (apart from a wreckers), but I had to buy a new lock for my lid and George at Classic at Rydalmere has them. One warning though, the lock is a slightly different shape on the inside, so the retaining clip doesn't fit, and I've been too lazy to attach it yet. Will probably have to use sikaflex or such like.

Good luck

Craig

Thanks for the tip Joel, it was certainly frustrating when I got it home and discovered that problem. I did think that it would be a fundamental part of making the lock right, but it seems they did, and I'm just trying to put it on the wrong type of car!!!

Still in the abscence of a Mk1 Golf wreck lying around I think Sikaflex it is for me.

Cheers
Craig

Yes, Yes, Yes. I am after one. Send me a PM and we can organise it. I had a locking one and it broke, so I may be able to use that cylinder and key.
