BIG job to change over

I saw Pete Klaack use a felt to cover a cruddy dash the other day
Came up looking a million dollars
A LOT easier than trying to swap a dash

I will try and find EXACTLY what it was

Either that or those fibreglass ones look ok
Just make sure you pull the outer vents and pop them in the cover

I sent my L bug dash to a mob in Brisbane called Dashboard Restorations at http://www.dashboardrestorations.com.au/index.htm

I modified it a bit first, and this is how it worked out if the photos will attach

I had it done in early 2005, and can't find the invoice. I think it was about $600, but that also included the face of the guage pod as in this photo, and it was the much bigger L bug dash. Their website does give quite a good run-down of how they do them.

I had same problem an used Sikaflex-227 to fill cracks and raised the surface by 2-3 mm. I then I used a sanding block to level, very tedious but a reasonable result. Because the leather look texture was lost I sprayed with plastic paint then top coated with charcoal textured paint. Took a couple of weeks for the Sikaflex to cure enough to sand, the result is not perfect but 100% better than it was, all up costs about sixty dollars.
