vw engine wiring

Just tried to crank the 1600 engine over manually with no luck. Anyone got some info on wiring so that I can wire the original battery up?

When you say manually, I think you mean by hand (place hands on flywheel or front crank pulley and use your muscles). If you cant turn it by hand, dont even try and do it with the starter motor.

I thought rebuilding a VW would be cheap - Shit I was wrong, just don't let the wife know !!!!

from the bat + a lead goes to the stub on the starter (thick wire)- from that stub another lead should go to your regulator( thick wire) - wire from reg to fuse box (thick wire) - then a wire should come from a loom in the left hand side of the engine bay and conect to the spade terminal between the two stubs on the starter ( make sure bat is unpluged when you do any of this stuff as you might melt your tools or start the car. - earth stap from bat - to body and from body to gearbox/motor.

Help this helps
