Maybe overfilled with oil, gen stand louvered baffle plate/gasket installed incorectly or your engine is very tired (rings having excessive blowby).

Where is it? ...beside the oil filler.

can be a few things

what john said.
is the PCV hose to the air cleaner hooked up?
blocked off or not connected will do it

cheap taiwanese oil fillers leak no matter what you do to them
if its one you will no it, metal is so thin you can see thro it

and also if someone who didnt know what they were doing built the engine the oil deflector under the genny stand may be facing the wrong way

or as Matt said you may just have bad blowby

hahaha, checked all that, is maybe a little low on oil if anything, motor is in pretty good condition. only noticed it a week after i did an oil change, never touched the gen stand louvered baffle plate/gasket.

thanks

If it is only since the oil change it may be that the oil has run into the breather whilst filling, this is assuming that it wasn't leaking previously. Or the breather may be blocked internally not allowing the crankcase gas to the air cleaner hose.

If it is the first it will cure itself,if it is the second pull the breather/oil filler off and clean it internally until you can blow freely through the hose connection. Cheers Les

unless you made a drastic change in oil weight like 20/50 down to 10/30 even that i would be doubtfull would cause i dont reckon thin oil would be to blame

is it actually dripping from the PCV hose spigot on the filler? or the oil filler area in general?

most vws weep from the filler either a. where it bolts to the stand or b. the seam where the 2 filler halves join

Good to hear that it has stopped.I run 15/40 9n my volksies and find this quite adequate, when you are filling it stick a funell down the neck and fill slowly this will stop the oil backing in the breather section. cheers Les
