Beetle running problems, HELP!!! PERTH

Hi, ive got a running problem on my Bug and wondered if anybody can recomend a vw enthusiast or mechanic that i can get to have a look. Im in Perth near Wanneroo. Its a 1959 with a 1600 twin port motor. It has been running fine and doing regular 120 km round trips to work. I was nearly home when it started missing. It had all new ignition gear about a month ago and has just had a carb kit fitted to try and fix the problem, which didnt work. I need the car for work so need to get it fixed in a hurry as the wife isnt to happy with me taking her car. Any help will be really apreciated. Cheers

What sort of fuel are you running?
How clean are your plugs? Is there a good connection on the leads and no moisture?
Are we talking missing, or pinging????

well pinging has a distinct sound, and missing is just alot less power and alot of struggling.
It is quite hot at the moment but this things dont just happen for no reason. sorry i cant help you further just wanted to check you had looked at the basics. :)
