Engine conversion 68 IRS VW Beetle
Any ideas for an engine coversion for the 68 IRS VW Beetle, and what other mods will be necessary for the conversion.
Body for chassis may be a beach buggy when finished or my original plan of a purvis eureka :-)
I'm thinking along the lines of a good old V6 or V8, something with a bit of grunt.
Open to all ideas.
Cheers

u plan on making this street legal?
Cause there seems to be alot of V8 rover kits and 3.8ltr v6 commodore engine adapters available for dubs. But it certainly wouldn't pass a non-bodgey
blue plate compliance officer.

Yea mate, street legal all the way. Rover V8 would be a bit of fun, what's in the kit for the conversion?
I assume that it would be a good idea to change the trannie and rear torsion arms for added strength for the V8?

Based on the fact that a 68 beetle weighs only approx 840kg you can only fitt a motor of a maximum capacity of 2520cc which i don't believe any V8
easily available in OZ is below that capacity .
By the way where are you located , please fill in your details in your user profile .
I would recomend a subaru engine conversion myself which you have quite a wide range of engine sizes , turbo'd and non turbo and all within reach of
being legally registered.
If your in Brisbane drop in and see us at Custom Vee Dub ( see below ) or just give us a buz as we have done quite a few subie conversions now and
have sorted the doe's and don'ts out not to mention we have an engineer on hand to legilise it all at the end .
