country buggy worth
Hi there people.
On a recent trip to Condobolin to pick up a horse i discovered that the owner had a Country buggy stashed in the back of his hay shed.
I had a bit of a look over it and although it needs a restoration it's very solid.
The original motor is still there, but on the ground and seized. Apparently the grand kids ran it into the dam.
since pulling it out of the water and pulling the motor out to strip it down.
he has since forgotten about it and left it sitting in the corner of his shed for the last 9 years.
I would say the gearbox would be full of water too, but I'm unsure on that.
It is complete with all it's seats and steering wheel. reduction hub gearbox and I'm guessing it's the original front end.
It has a fibreglass roof which looks to be of a type 181 or something along that nature, unless they had a fibreglass roof option.
I asked the owner if he would sell and he said make him an offer.
Told him i would have a think and get back to him if i decide to make an offer.
I Didn't take any pictures of it sorry. i didn't have our camera and i totally forgot about the camera on my phone.
Anyways. my question is. what should a reasonable offer for a solid country buggy be?

if the owner was net savvy he would be doing the exact same thing,offer what you think its worth ,he can only reject it and then you would have to up
your ante,till an acceptable price is reached

The value really depends on how much you want to pay.
Can you get some pics of the Country Buggy to add the the Gallery? Also, if you open the bonnet, and look at the panel between the fuel tank and the
back of the dash, you will see a plate welded on that has the body KO number. If we can have that as well that would be great.

CBs dont float or keep water out very well and I would be cautious to pay much money for something that has been in the dam even though we dont know
for how long.
Put it this way, motor is siezed, gearbox will have water, brakes will be shot, and front end must be questionable.I would want to have a really good
look at all the panels for friendly rust as I can imagine how much there is under all the dust,hay bird shit and rat droppings.
The fibreglass roof can be a factory option. It sounds complete enough.
My take, Start at $500 and dont go higher than $1.0K

well he mentioned that it had only been in there for a short time. Enough time for the kids to run back up to the house to grab their pop and go pull
it out with the tractor.
they currently have one of those fibreglass buggies now to run around the farm 
The car's suspension still moves free and it rolls quite easily as we pushed it out into the light to have a good look.He did mentioned that he had
drained the tank and flushed it and the lines with kero to dry up any moisture in there. also ran fresh fluid through the brake lines. but after
sitting so long I'd say the lines would be stuffed anyways.
the floor never had any holes or rust repairs and the only real rust spots i found was where the headlights sit. there was a couple of bubbles on the
front bonnet thingo and one bit under the left rear tail light. the rest was basic surface rust.
He has stated that he wants at least $2,000 for it or it will just sit until he finds the time to fix it back up.
We are looking at purchasing a new car for me, we just have to decide on what 1 it is i get, which will determine the outcome with buying this country
