just got some new wheels for my square back
just got some v force wheels which are 15 x 6 with an offset of et 36, got them from beetlecupracing.com , a type 3 has an offset of et 46, am i right
in thinking that this will bring my wheel closer to the fender ? the guy i bought them from said i could run 205 x 65 tyres both front and back ! , at
the moment the car is standard height but wanted to give it a raked look by lowering the front 2 notches, and maybe use 195 x 65 on the back and 175 x
50 on the front, will these wheels be usable or has anyone had any experience with these wheels ? the offset of et 36 is for beetles ? correct me if
im wrong please ! do you think i should send them back before i waste money on tyres and they will not fit, and get some wheels with an offset of et
46 any one pleeeeaase !

before i phoned him i put a post on the samba as i knew the offset of a type 3 is et 46 and these wheels are et 36
in the post there where mixed reactions from they will rub send them back ask him for a money back gaurentee if they dont, i then phoned v force and
he reckoned they will be no problem with 205 x 6o or 65 up front and back ! can you see my dilema !

I think it's fair to say that all the beetle wheels will fit and probably be ok as long as the car is stock height.
For wider rims and being any lower you would need to keep with an offset close to 46 or narrow the front beam.
Many USA cars seem to have 135s up front or narrow beams too, I think either of these look aweful.

yes they should fit. i have MWS brms on my square that have an offset of about ET28. its lowered 3 outers in the front on 135 tyres and does not rub
what so ever. if you have trouble fitting them in the back you maybe able to do a short axle swap (like i am doing) if you have a swing axle car (pre
68). but you shouldnt have a problem especially if you keep the tyre size sensible

I have just had mine done on my square, it makes a big difference. is there many who have done this in australia?

Andrew (GTMac) runs Porsche Cookie Cutters on his Type 3

They are the same wheel - as in 15" 36ET
Andrew ( i am 99% certain) runs Yoki C Drive 195 65 series all round with no problems
I can see no reason these wheels wont fit with 195's

by the way...................
You cannot talk offset without talking width. The 2 go hand in hand
You have to remember you are adding 1 1/2" to a stock wheel
IT HAS TO GO SOMEWHERE
4 1/2" 46ET going to 6" 36ET the tyre is closer to the body by 9mm and 29mm further out
If you have a 46ET 6" wheel it will be 19mm closer to the body and 19mm further out

Most of the problems is sitting TOO CLOSE to the body.
