Salutations
Just Thought Id say hi, drop a line and catch me a dubber. Im new to the VW's I have purchased a type 3 fastback, am doing a Custom resto, will post
pics up of the progress which is bound to be tediuosly slow, and quite boring, but for all who have nothing better to do ...(like myself) then feel
free to watch the progress and even critisize the way im doing it all.... he he he.

A bit further on, long process but am enjoying it every step of the way, the main focus is on my first ever moulds for the forced air intakes for the
rear quarter panel and the dash and also looking and tinkering with the 1600 engine, found it was missing a few bits like the tappet rod (cam?) and
tappets. Oh well it makes the trip interesting. Anyway here are some more picks, these are of the first mould of which I am now inthe process of
repairing due to a little monster hiding in my garage, you will see the picture just below
BE AFRAID.......... BE VERY AFRAID!
This was just after I made the supporting mould underneath and gave it its first coat of plaster to shape it.
The other end you can see the shape better
a couple more coats of plaster...
The first one finished and undercoated (before the desecration)
can you see the footprints ?.....free rust to the first to spot them
The damage close up
The beginning of the other intake mould
This is the repairing of the dash before the smoothing began, took out the speaker grill and filled the gap to smooth the finish
and this gets me through the hard times

Picked up the V6 on Saturday, my mate dropped it off the trailer and we spent about 30 min getting it back onto its rolling support, hard to do with
no lifter and loose stones. After we got it into the shed me and my Daughter began giving it a quick clean, nothing too thorough, I then put the
wiring loom back on it to see how it was set up (never had EFI before). I would have had pics but I keep forgetting to charge the batteries for the
camera, then when they are charged i forget to actually take the pics. I got a few in still. To fit the V6 in the back bay of my Fasty I chopped out
the back with my 9". am going to reinforce once I know exactly were the altered K-frame and mounts are gonna go, the engine will fit in perfectly,
with only a minor adjustment to the back thermo housing and pipe. Although in the pictures the engine is sitting much lower than where it needs to be
to line up with the gearbox, the gearbox is still the 1600 as I have yet to find a 2 Lt gearbox for sale but it will do for fitting purposes, I am
awaiting funds before I buy the conversion plate from Volksconversions. Also having the back cut out I can access the undercarriage without too much
difficulty to clean and MAN is there some Sod under here, I can create my own artificial paddock with the amount of dried mud and dirt caked to the
gearbox and CV's, I have also found that most of the CV bolts are loose and generally rounded inside, probably from the previous owner/s trying to
loosen them with an allen key instead of a star key, still they will be coming off to get cleaned and possibly chromed/polished, not sure yet!. well
here are the very few photos of the progress so far. I will endevour to take many more pictures during this process to help other people with there
restorations and to possibly show what NOt to do, as knowing me I will do everything ass about face, happy dubbing peoples
Back cut out with motor floating in bay
The little cleaning we did to the engine, it shines in some! places
I put the cut out back in to see were the front pulleys were gonna sit
From the photo you can just see the gap were the Alt is, the motor will actually sit back about another 30-40mm once the adjstments are made to the
thermo housing
The front suspension, drivers side hasnt been cleaned up yet
The passengers side, the beginnings of the cleaning
Feed back is muchly appreciated and advice on parts im doing wrong, as I said before this is gonna take ages due to time and money, Im a shift worker
and broke HAHAHAHA. So I hope all you other dubbers out there have been having as much fun as me and as usual when I can update the progress I will,
keep on Dubbin'

Sweet, that thing should move along great. The 3.8 v6 in a commodore goes well and they weigh over 1600kg.

Would you believe a wire brush on a cordless drill?, I removed the crud with a screwdriver first then I used the wire brush attachment for the drill
to get the rest of the grime off, still more to clean in it but its a good start and I agree with how the finish looks
