Its not the mechanics fault that Your fan belt broke
I have never had a fan belt break on one of My cars...
any cars... I always replace them well before any cracks appear...
same as fuel hoses etc...
if You bend the hose and it seems to crack even though it doesn't leak.. its time to replace the hose..
I've never had a hose leak either....
the VW type cotton covered hose is the worst to find a leak as the cotton covereing hides the cracks...
always use hose clamps.... GOOD quality hose clamps...
and ALWAYS carry a spare fan belt in Your VW....
they are very inexpensive from a VW shop....
accelerator and clutch cables too are also good spares...
cheers
LEE
If You have roadside assist with Your VW... Your car can be fixed if You have the spares..... especially the fan belt.
Not too sure whether the modern roadside assist mechanic can replace an accelerator or clutcg cable..
