rear torsion bar rubbers
Hi, can someone let me know which inner rubber goes on each side. just bought new ones and the number has been ground off. one has one dot and the
other has 2 dots, i cant remember which is which

Do you mean the inner and outer rubber doughnuts for the torsion bar spring plates.
These are either smooth or nobby depending on your year of bug.

depending on what model beetle you have too...

yeah IRS rear, its the inner rubber bush i need help with.
can just make out the 6 on one of them so it should be L/H inner

Take a look at VW Heritage. It's a UK VW parts supplier and they have excellent exploded views of every part of a VW from karmanns to bays 
If you look at the torsion tube you will see if you need a smooth doughnut or one with nobby bits.

IRS bushes are pretty hard to stuff up,
i havent had a swinger apart for years but i know on my Lbug that the inner bushings only go in 1 way cos of the lugs on them
