Transporting kids in Beetle (again!)
Sorry to go over old ground, but i just wondered what people use in the back of a Beetle for kids between 4 and 7?
We had the child restraints fitted and use these with lap belts and a booster seat base thing (ie doesn't have a backrest)
The main problem we find is that because of the material Beetle seats are made of, the plastic booster seat bases slide all over the place and it
appears to me that it would probably be safer without them, but still use them as the law dictates.
How does everyone else transport their kids in the back of a Beetle?
If anyone has pics of their set-up it would help massively.

Sorry, I don't have pictures, just curious - what are your seats made out of (and which year beetle).
Do the booster seats have slots for the seat belt to hook through?
I don't have seat belts in the back of my 65 beetle, so when I used to babysit my friend's little boy, if I had to drive him somewhere I used to put
his booster seat in the front. This was one with a back, not just a seat part, and I guess the front seat had a little more support than the bench in
the back. I didn't have any trouble though, just the polystyreney stuff on the bottom used to squeak on the seat 
He's eight now, so big enough to sit in the front without a booster seat , although he has to crane his neck a little to look out the windscreen. He
loves it though. "Can I go with Auntie Jay in her beetle?!". Mwa ha ha ha. Another generation of VW lovers.

In the back of my Type 3, which also has cloth seats I use a piece of non slip rubber from clark rubber on the base of the bench seat under the
'booster' seat, I tucked it in between the top and bottom of the seats so it doesn't slip around. I believe you can buy a non-slip base from Baby
Co and some of the auto shops, but the $8 of non-slip works fine for my 4 and a half year old daughter on just the plastic booster base (no back).
