Newbie Question: Superbug identification
Hi folks,
I'm looking for a rolling IRS/balljoint floorpan, and in looking on ebay, etc, I want to make sure I don't get stuck with a Superbug (macpherson
struts) in my effort to get as late a pan of the correct type as possible.
Can you guys tell me how to easily identify the macpherson strut typed Beetles from the outside?
Is it "S" bugs and/or the ones with the rounded windscreen?
Thanks in anticipation.

Struts come on both the "S" bugs and the curved window "L" bugs. What your after is a semi-auto pan (68-69 I think) or a 76 non super-beetle pan.

Thanks, Simon.
I really want a manual though, but at least now I know how to identify them. If I see a shagged manual "L" bug with a flat screen for 20c, I'll
get excited.
I'll stay away from S types and round screen L's. Thanks again.

simons already covered it pretty well
theres arent actually all that many BJ/IRS bugs out there in aus
was only 68-70 1500 stickshifts and the 76 badgeless bug.
semi auto pans arent hard to convert to manual but theres not exactly falling off trees
other options if u dont mind a bit of welding is either convert a 68 onwards pov pak bug floor to IRS or get an Sbug/Lbug floorpan and weld a BJ bulk
head on
