Show plates registration
Tried search function but can find nothing. Am thinking of registering my beetle for limited use like shows. How does one go about this? And if there
is a thread can you let me know what it is

Hi David,
Are you a member of Club Veedub? Join up, come along to meetings and runs and get to know everyone. We only offer Historic Registration to active
members who are known to the committee first.
Also your Beetle would have to be stock, or have period accessories. No big engines, fat wheels, whale tails etc. And it could only be used for
club-sanctioned events ie. events listed in the club calendar.

Flat four also have club registration facilities,with the same type of deal,maybe go to a meeting of both clubs and see which one fits your idea of
what a club should be

They are the CMC rules (who operate the scheme on behalf of the RTA), not Club Veedub's or Flat Four's.
Any new 'historic plate' club would also have to affiliate with the CMC, and obey the rules, or have their ability to supply them revoked (and incur
the wrath of the RTA and the Police). Club Veedub obeys their rules because we want VW owners to be able to use this privilege that the RTA has
granted the car club movement. Abuse it, and it will be taken away.

Going to events and joining a club is no problem at all. I have always gone to lots of them. But I am not the sort to attend meetings at all and also
I dont think I can put show plates on as the previous owner has fitted 5' wheels so would not be standard, from what above postings show. I was
really just hoping to use it on occasions I went to events so that it did not just sit here until it gets registered fully. Anyway thanks for input
all.

The suitability of an individual application is up to the club committee, and specifically the Vintage Registrar. In NSW, and especially in Club
Veedub's case, a low low low '54 would be knocked back. You would be asked to restore it to standard ride height before Historic Rego would be
permitted.
I'm not the Club Vintage Registrar, but Silver's Beetle looks externally fine to me. The wheels and tyres are period, so no problem there. The
motor, however looks too modern for a '60s VW - especially the carbs, linkages, air-cleaners and breather box - and would probably be unsuitable for
Historic Registration. It certainly would be if it's not a '60s 1200 or 1300 case, and VW twin port heads were not available in the '60s.
