I have a set of integra in Blue2 and i had Subaru in Blue1.
They weld onto VW bases
Probabally should be eng certified but......
Wanna buy a set already on bases???

Get 1985 BMW 320i seats they come in leather and bolt staight to floor pan. Look real nice kinda retro but still comfy. Will suit vw real nice.

The seats out of JAP cars are about the best thing they make.
Best of all is there usually narrow and fit great inside a VW.
I have Honda seats in mine, but be careful when welding them onto frames as some of the JAP seats are off set so they have to be straightened or
aligned to suit a VW.

I have a set of MX5 seats which fit fantastic, narrow where it needs to be ,and look like early 911 seats!!
I'm fitting Suzuki GTI seats to my new road/race car, firm with side supports, and they are out of a two door car so they fold forward for rear
seat access.:thumb
Make sure you get them engineered for insurance etc !

mine are out of a honda. I welded some flat bars on the old bases, then bolted the seats on (use the correct grade bolt) and they are now blue plated. |

I had '94 honda prelude seats in my old '72 S bug. I removed the hoda tracks and bases then removed the Beetle bases and welded them onto
the prelude seats. They were really comfy and supportive, with the head rest removed they kinda looked like modified low backs
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail.....
But a true friend will be sitting next to you saying "Damm that was fun!!!"

I got Suzuki gti seats in mine. There great. loads of confort and hold nicely for the sideways croners which there seem to be alot of around me !!

what about fitting seats in a 72 kombi the bases are totally different! should i juyst weld to the chassis?

I take it you are in Qld.
The blue plate is only valid for a seat conversion if it bolts straight in.
As soon as you welded etc. it then requires an engineer to sign this off....not an authorised officer....

We found commodore seats will fit in the front seat positions..just. There is sufficent room under the original track areas (after removing the welds
on the original runners carefully) and the holden runners worked out to be on the same horizontal plain.

saw some 'autotechnica' seats in repco yesterday. guy said they'd fit anything as they had adjustable rails and holes and stuff. 400
bucks, looked pretty okay.. anyone ever tried these?

try the OBX seats
you get them from autobarn. they look similar to the autotecnia seats but much better quality. they come in four different styles starting at around
the $250 mark. i have 2 pairs called touring seat one set in my bug the other in my commodore. have a look at the link given

i run aerotech seats, Its a hard problem trying to find seats to fit u in and that will fit in the car. But just measure the width u have to fit seat
into and take ur tape measure.
I bolted my seats to the vw frame, makes it easier to change if need be. Just make sure u use the correct grade bolts.
NAother thing, i got some honda seats intially from the wreckers and they were import seats and didn't have the aust standards sticker so
therefore in theory shouldn't have been approved(blue plated) |

Anyone wanna swap some jap seats for these babies? They are great when going to the beach etc just slip the covers off an hose em out, but after 8 hrs
or more drivin I'm hankerin for some not so practical comfort. :p

Bolt or weld in VW seat bases ???
So its OK to bolt Your seats in, but NOT weld them in..
Is that correct? I am installing recovered Superbug seats into My 68 Beetle and the bases are different, so I have cut the original bases out and am
going to bolt the superbug bases in... My Son told Me the bases had to be welded in....
Any info please...

My kombi has non-standard seats (don't know what they are) that have been welded on and it passed the Vic roadworthy certificate.
The problem with welding them on is when you want to get them back off like I do!
