Accelerator Pedal

I have replaced the floor of my 1963 Beetle and am now having difficulty setting the accelerator pedal in the correct position. I have bought a new pedal and linkages etc. but the Z shaped bar is very loose where it connects to the lever resulting in the pedal leaning over to the RHS when depressed . As a result it is not possible to get a smooth operation. Any help would be appreciated.

Accelerator PeDAL

Thank you-- but by pivot point , do you mean the position where the pedal is connected to the floor and if so what is the correct position? Thank You.
