hey hey!

Got some interesting ideas buildin up around the home... but... it involves towin...

anyways, if a 1600 kombi can tow wateva it does, what would be expected of a baja with the 1600 kombi engine and transaxle? (ie: the exact torque output is therefore the same, ignoring wheels though and noting that its got the type 3 wagon larger brakes too.)

assume trailer is 4 wheeler with assisted brakes. any suggested brace designs? (which would be necessary for the tow ball....)

Doesn't depend at all on engine power or transmission - basically you can only tow the lesser of what the manufacturer rated the vehicle at or what the towbar is rated at.

For vehicles where there's no manufacturer rating, then the manufacturer's rating is taken as:
- for unbraked trailers the unladen weight of the vehicle itself
- for braked trailers, 1.5 times the unladen weight of the vehicle

There are details at http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/resources/file/eb849042963ccb6/Safe_towing_in...
