4 LUG WHEELS
Hi guys - am looking to put mag wheels on my dune buggy . The basis of it was a '76 rolling chassis.
I am having trouble finding a brand of wheel that has the right offset, clears the hub on the front disc, and has covers that fit over the rear axle
nut.
Has anyone out there bought mags that fit ok and don't cost your left testicle?
cheers Dave

You hit the nail on the head Dave....
unless You change the bolt holes to ones that suit a Ford or Commodore...
they are going to cost You an arm and a leg...
I see Fords and Commodores crushed on trucks with mag wheels still on them...
and their mags are very cheap at wreckers etc...
whereas VW wheels are just too expensive...
unless they are 14 inch....

1/ new discs and drums redrilled to suit GM / Ford
2/ adaptors to go from 4 lug to wide 5 - are these street legal?
3/ re-drill old rotors/drums - is this legal ?
4/ stick with stockers
5/any other suggestions?????

Dave, they start from around $100 a pop for restudded discs and drums
for a buggy i would say go 5x114.3 which is falcon/toyota/nissan etc cos that will give you a plethora of choices in the 2nd hand market with good
offsets for a buggy
ive got 4x100 on my bug which is most front wheel drive cars so offset wouldnt really suit a buggy but im always picking up rims cheap
a set of 17" with good tyres is never more than $600 away and theres always more out there with 5x114.3

what joel said ^ then go get some stockers from an E* series falcon, if they fit what you want go hunting for pre-au falcon mags (took me 3months to
find some that were decent) however if you can squeeze your wheels in towards the body more just about anything else with the same pattern will be
sweet, that said from my searching/testing thew falcon seems to have the most suitable center bore to clear the axle nut & grease cap (its 70.7mm) the million jap wheels are about 2-5mm smaller, failing that if
you want some to suit the original pattern, check out the V-force wheels if getting custom discs/drums sounds a little too costly

Thanks guys,
I will probably go with the V Force wheel option, does anyone know who you can buy them through, and what price?
cheers Dave

roughly double that could get you more brakes than you will ever need on a streeter with replacement pads & rotors a visit to supercheap away...
more cost effective in the long run if consumables are cheaper & easier to get than old VW stuff, depends on what you want to do with the car
though i guess
