Brisbane Dubhead

I'm not sure if I have already posted one of these on here but I havn't had time to get on here for ages till now.I am really getting into my Vee Dubs again at the moment so will be spending a bit more time on here.
I have lived over here in Brisbane for the last four years since I came over from the Uk.Having been into vee dubs for the last 21 years since I got my first car ,a yellow Baja Bug.I have drag raced for a number of years with my shortened street legal roadster bug "the shortarse shaker".Which ran 12 second quarters on street tyres.I had various campers aswell.
When I first got over here I got my first car a Yellow 67 bug eyed Baja Bug, which I still have. I got hold of the bug with no windows, wiringloom or any elecrtrics.I managed to get it on the road and rego'd after a few months.I have recently built a 2072cc type one motor with loads of low end torque and am keen to get off road again.
I also have a 76 kombi which Is on the road and have just started to sort out.
I am keen to get off road and go to VW events and meets, so I guess this is the place to find out whats going on.

Cheers, Duanepipe.

The bug eyed bajas have been dominating the forum a bit the last month.

Pod selling his, another 65 for sale and now yours for the show :P nice work!

welcome to the nut house! Theres a few good other vw offroaders local around the brissy parts. I believe the next show coming up is the warwick weekend? Drags out west way.

Which beach is that?

I have been avoiding the drags for a while because I will want to build a race car if I go.I think I will be popping along though.
The beach is on Stradbroke Island.

hahaha. Even the stock bugs go for a 1/4 mile spin :P from what i seen. i neva been though.

Ah! main beach by any chance? looks like it thinking of it now.

It was only 4 months ago i got caught in an irratic gust and went 6 metres in the air in my 9 metre kite surfing kite. After landing and coming back up again there (whilst being pulled towards the rocks) i had to crash land it so i wouldn't die. As a result, I got slingshotted up the dune. only another 3 metres high and a land on the face haha. The wind was in every direction. choppy and gusty.

Haven't eva had a vee dub on that sand before though. one day...
instead its been in the garage for the last 4 yrs...

I thought it looked like straddie, I also thought main! I have had 2 different dubs on that sand, A manx and a baja. I will admit the manx was probably better but i still love the baja
