Have a T3 '73 fastback petrol injection as of late it has been running like a bag of well u get the idea for the first 5 or so mins of driving the car splutters no power and getting damm right dangerous and embarassing do the usual let it run to warm and even put in gear to run it warm with load on the engine but to no avail but it seems to to this mostly when fuel is below half was thinking of going back to carbys technically yes going backwards but 35 year old electrics got to give em a clap but thinks this is main cause of problem. any advice or help with stockists and if it cand be done would be outstanding

There is a pretty comprehensive self help topic on the samba forums about FI models. It could be something simple, so i wouldnt chuck it out just yet..... (if you do sell the system to the US, they have babies over that stuff)

all fuel injection cars run like dog turd if either throttle position sensor, map or AFM fail. These three are mega critical. I don't know exactly what the vw uses however.

If its still going then obviously crankshaft pos sensor and all injectors are fine (if all cylinders seem running the same). But if running like dog fuel mix or ignition advance kaputt, and those 3 i listed above highly manipulate such.

I assume vw FI is pre-diagnosis flashing lights?
